The teacher training workshop, led by Janez Demšar and Blaž Zupan from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Computer and Information Science, was hosted by the Dublin West Education Centre and H2 Learning.
Together with a group of Irish teachers and other education experts, we experimented with two teaching scenarios on prediction models:
- Gnomes: children learn how to build a simple algorithm, i.e., a classification tree, for distinguishing between different kinds of gnomes based on their external traits or attributes.
- Quadrialterals: children learn or revise the properties of different quadrilaterals, while practising data collection and representation, and constructing a classification tree.
We are always blown away by the enthusiasm and creativity of the Irish teachers, and the structured, proactive, and forward-thinking approach of everyone on the team. A real pleasure to work with!
