The DALI4US project has provided a rich programme of professional learning for teachers across Ireland, supporting the integration of data literacy into everyday classroom practice. Between November 2025 and June 2026, teachers from upper primary classes took part in four Professional Learning Events (PLEs) and a Shared Learning Day, delivered at various locations around Dublin. These sessions brought together teachers from a diverse range of school settings, including denominational, multi-denominational, special, and senior national schools, to collaborate, explore practical approaches, and share emerging practice in teaching data literacy.
The project focused on building both confidence and competence, enabling teachers to meaningfully embed data literacy skills within existing curricular areas. Through hands-on activities, discussion, and reflection, participants developed strategies to help pupils question, interpret, and communicate data in engaging and age-appropriate ways. Many teachers had already begun putting these approaches into practice in their own classrooms before the programme had even concluded.
The long-term impact of DALI4US is expected to extend well beyond the participating classrooms. By empowering teachers with the skills to teach data literacy, the project aims to ensure that pupils develop critical thinking skills essential for navigating a digital world. As data increasingly shapes how we live, learn, and make decisions, initiatives like DALI4US play a vital role in preparing young learners to become informed, capable, and responsible citizens.
